National Institute Of Open Schooling (NIOS) NIOS Admission Online 2022-2023: Step By Step Guide

NIOS board is in existence since 1990. It is the largest open school in the world. Presently, around 2.81 million students are enrolled in NIOS Board at various levels of education. NIOS board has a wide network of around 1800 centers in India as well as abroad.

NIOS board conducts national examination twice a year: Secondary and Higher Secondary. The secondary level examination is equivalent to the 10th board examinations of ICSE, CBSE and other national or state standard boards. The Higher Secondary level examination of NIOS Board is at par with other standard 12th board examinations. Almost all the boards, institutes and universities across the country admit NIOS board students to continue or pursue higher studies.

Registration with NIOS Board:-

  • Students fulfilling the minimum age criteria can apply for Secondary or Senior Secondary NIOS courses during July and August in every calendar year. For secondary course, the student must have successfully completed at least class 8 education from a regular school. Apart from this, the NIOS board also allows the admission of the student on the basis of self-certificate. Students can register for higher secondary course only if they have successfully completed their secondary education from a recognized board.
  • NIOS Board has more than 2000 institutes in major towns and cities across the country; These institutes are listed in the NIOS prospectus and on the NIOS website. Students can register in these institutes and get special instructions. The registration and course cost of NIOS board is very less. Because of which all sections of the society are able to afford the cost of NIOS board education.

Examination in one year:-

  • NIOS Board conducts the examination twice in a year. Which happens in April-May and October-November. The NIOS board allows students a maximum of nine chances in five years to clear their exams; They can take the exam with a maximum of seven subjects at a time. Students who are not able to pass the examination of all their chosen subjects within the specified period can reapply and get the credits of their subjects transferred.
