The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has to submit NIOS Tutor Mark Assignment for Secondary and Senior Secondary level in October or April. Students appearing their class 10 and class 12 exams from the NIOS board need to upload their NIOS assignments before the last date.

What is NIOS Tutor Marked Assignment?
Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) are NIOS assignments which help in enhancing the learning skills so that the student develops study habit and becomes a brilliant student. NIOS has developed many tools and strategies to help students learn and become a successful learner. NIOS Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) consists of three assignments, each carrying 6 questions, for each subject chosen by the students. TMA consists of all types of questions i.e. very short answer, short answer, long answer and project (practical) based questions.
NIOS Assignment Work Format
Tutor Marked Assignments carry 20% marks of the theory paper of that subject. If you understand it in such a way that English paper is of 100 marks, then accordingly its TMA is of 20 marks. If we see the same in Physics, then its theory paper is of 80 marks, according to which TMA was of 16 marks. As per TMA pattern of NIOS there will be 6 questions which are as follows –
Questions 1, 2 and 3 in TMA are short answer type questions. Each question will have two options, only one of which is to be attempted. Each question is of 2 marks. Thus, all the three questions in this section together carry 6 marks.
Questions 4 and 5 are long answer type questions. These questions have multiple choices out of which you have to attempt only one question. 4 marks have been set for each question. Accordingly, 8 marks have been allotted to questions 4 and 5.
In Question number 6 there are two projects. Students have to solve only one of these two. You get 6 marks for this question.
How to Upload Tutor Mark Assignment:
First of all students have to login by entering their student id and password. The dashboard will open, there will be many things in it, but while scrolling down, They will see that the column of tutor mark assignment . Three things would have been given in it like download TMA, upload TMA and TMA status. Out of this, going to tma upload, different subject would have been given, in that we will go to our subject and upload TMA. after uploading TMA you can check it in TMA status. Importance of NIOS Assignments –
• TMA NIOS assignments for Secondary level will have 20% weightage of theory. The number of assignments will be given separately (in a separate column) on the marks sheet of the students when the results are declared after the examinations.
• Assignments will enable students to understand how to write correct answers in examinations.
