Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination Board Patna (BBOSE)
The Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBOSE) was established in February 2011 as an autonomous organization by the Department of Education, Government of Bihar. BBOSE is an ‘Open and Distance Learning Institute’ under the Societies Act, registered by the Government of Bihar. The purpose of establishing this board is to provide open and distance education like NIOS in Bihar.
The Bihar Open Schooling and Examination Board (BBOSE) board focuses on providing education and skills to the underprivileged students from the weaker socio-economic and religious sections in the backward areas of Bihar. BBOSE also develops educational materials and books, which pertain to all levels of the formal school system from class 1 to class 12. BBOSE also conducts public examinations for class 10th and 12th for other secondary boards like CBSE/ISCSE etc.
Bihar’s own board BBOSE has been established in the field of open and distance education at the school level by combining the State Council of Educational Research and Training and the Bihar School Examination Board.
The salient features of BBOSE are as follows
- In addition to secondary and higher secondary programmes, direct professional and skill training is also provided from class 5 to class 12.
- It also allows the combination of vocational courses with academic subjects of class 10th and class 12th.
- This free board of education offers diplomas and certificates for various academic and vocational courses, available for different durations and qualification levels.
- BBOSE study centers are available in 38 districts of Bihar.
- Other innovative features of Bihar Open Board are special programs to reach out to disadvantaged groups like SC, ST, Economically Backward Classes, Minorities, Nomadic Groups, River Populations.
- The programs offered at the academic and vocational level are pre-primary, basic education, secondary, senior secondary, vocational education, life enrichment etc.
For admission to secondary education means class X, students have to fulfill the following criteria:
Age: The student must be at least 14 years of age.
Minimum Educational Qualification: Students must have passed class/class 9 or earlier examination in any class recognized by the Bihar Board of School Education, Patna, or its equivalent.
Curriculum: Secondary education requires students to be registered in five categories – ‘A’ and ‘B’ for two classes.
Under Transfer of Credit (TOC), students have to attach the original mark sheet with the application form so that they can transfer marks of at least two subjects. Provided that they have passed both the subjects in the secondary examination of the same year and the mark sheet should not be more than 5 years old.
Admission Criteria for Class XII
For students entering higher secondary education i.e. class XII, the following criteria need to be fulfilled –
Age: The student must be at least 15 years of age at the time of admission.Students are required to submit the original stay of the previous board to the Bihar Open Board.
Minimum Educational Qualification: Students should have passed Secondary / Class 10 recognized by Bihar School Examination Board, Patna.
Curriculum: Students are required to be registered for secondary education for five categories (including TOC) for two classes of mechanics ‘A’ and ‘B’.
Under Transfer of Credit (TOC), students have to attach the original mark sheet with the application form so that they can transfer at least two subject points. Provided that they have passed both the subjects in the secondary examination of the same year and the mark sheet should not be more than 5 years old.
Departments of BBOSE
Bihar Open Board Educational Department (Academic): This department provides information related to all aspects of education of BBOSE, such as study material, e-book self-learning material, secondary and higher secondary program schedule, as well as personal contact schedule etc.
Bihar Open Board Examination Department (Exam): This department has been established for the programs related to secondary and higher secondary examinations like examination conduct, examination application as well as student attendance etc.
Bihar Open Board Student Support : Under this department all the students can get all subjects question paper and solution e-book for secondary and higher secondary studies.
BBOSE Exam Result
The results of the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations of Bihar Open Board are declared every year in June and December 45 days after the examination. All those students who have written the annual examinations can check their result as given below:
